The protector is made from lightweight durable stretch polyester knit barrier fabric laminated to a waterproof breathable urethane membrane. It is unquestionably waterproof. To prevent ballooning, the cover features a 2” fine mesh gusset along the bottom and sides of the duvet liner, allowing air to escape when on the bed and water to escape during machine washing and drying. While liquids can potentially get into the duvet through the gusset, it is rare. The top fabric is a soft polyester that absorbs liquid without beading, ensuring that any liquid doesn't drip into the duvet or mattress (and still not penetrating the protector).

To prevent the duvet from shifting inside, there are 4 cloth ties on the corners inside the protector and 4 cloth ties outside. By tying these to your duvet and the protector to your decorative cover, you can stop shifting. The protector features a zippered closure. However, it is important to note that while the protector is breathable, it may not offer the level of breathability needed to allow large amounts of moisture produced during sleep to escape, potentially leading to a feeling of heat when sleeping.
